The word “community” is defined as a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals. There is no better way to describe the strong sense of togetherness that is present amongst Thai people. Volunteering in Thailand and being able to fully immerse yourself into the rich culture, you’ll feel this inclusion and compassion right away!
Among Thais, you’ll always be sure to have a full belly, a roof over your head if needed and a willingness to assist in whatever else you may be faced with. They come together in masses to celebrate many events, be it birthdays, holidays, significant milestones in business, etc. They gather to support friends and family in whatever way that they can, rallying to lift one another up, whether in spirit or otherwise.
As we further develop our efforts and activities within the local communities around our conservation camp, our reforestation projects, and basic education on the importance of maintaining our natural resources, the response has been welcomed with open arms and the willingness to understand, help and enrich our intentions. Teaching as a volunteer is supported fully by local Thais as well, in a concerted attempt to further educate the youth on these matters and recognize the magnitude in which our efforts can make a positive impact.
If you are seeking an experience that not only is gratifying in the way of volunteering and giving back to the community and earthly responsibilities that we have to preserve our resources, but also welcome a larger understanding of being a part of a culture and community that is willing to take care of you as well, then volunteering in Thailand with IVCA is an excellent opportunity!
