Volunteering abroad is an excellent way to add depth and meaning to your travels. It allows you to visit places and enjoy all the attractions that a tourist would, knowing all the along your journey is about more than ticking off must-see attractions from a list. Instead, when you are volunteering abroad, the best thing is to interact with the locals in order to know more about their culture and lifestyle. The host family would support accommodations to the participants in Thailand, which gives a chance to spend more time with the natives. The locals can guide you best about the ‘not-so-touristy’ yet beautiful places to visit and also serve you with the most delicious meals. Thai people are known as some of the happiest and friendliest people and you’ll soon realize why Thailand is known as ‘The Land of Smiles’.
Besides, Thailand lies at an important crossroads of Southeast Asia. Dazzling temples, ancient ruins and real adventures on the frontier are either just around the corner or only a short transfer away. A short stay in this country provides access to an incredible array of sights, attractions and activities to enjoy.
In Thailand, one of the most Buddhist countries in the world, more than 93 per cent of Thailand is Buddhist. Every Thai community, no matter how small or how poor, pools its resources to build an ornate temple to ensure everyone has a place to practice. Approximately, there are more than 40, 000 temples and Wat in Thailand and they are all absolutely gorgeous. Wat Phra Kaew (The Temple of the Emerald Buddha), Wat Pho (The Temple of the Reclining Buddha), Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) are the ones that you must visit while in Thailand.
Why do we need English Education Volunteer?
International Volunteer Community Association has a strong determination to provide English language education to underprivileged children in Thailand as thoroughly as possible. All the schools in this project are located in remote areas of rural development in Thailand. Some schools are part of a larger temple complex with a community of temples and Buddhist shrines. Others will be stationed in a particular school area. Each has its own dynamics, with students from 100 to 1,000 enrolled. Volunteer teachers have the option of teaching at all levels. Many Thai students grow up thinking that their English ability is very low. But sometimes, a few confidence-boosting classes with a foreigner, where they are understand more than they expected to and communicating right back. As a volunteer English teacher, you become a catalyst for student development.
